About Lori A. Futterman RN, Ph.D.
Dr. Lori Futterman earned a bachelors of science degree (BSN) in nursing from Case Western Reserve University and went on to obtain an M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the California School of Professional Psychology. As soon as she began her nursing career, she knew that she wanted to integrate a mind-body approach with psychotherapeutic methods to treat patients.

Dr. Futterman focused on women's reproductive endocrinology and was involved in one of the first research studies that proved that the ovary was the culprit behind Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS.) Since then, she has published numerous articles, e.g., PMS, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD,) Perimenopause, on women's health sexual medicine. She is also the author of the book PMS, Perimenopause, and You: A Guide to the Physical, Mental, and Emotional Patterns of a Woman's Life.
Today, Dr. Futterman works as a clinical psychologist in San Diego. She also serves as a clinical and research consultant for the Clinic for the Sexualities and was vountary faculty as an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She coordinates psychological services, research, and educational programs at the San Diego Premenstrual Syndrome Clinic.
